Dear Software Freedom Fighters,

It was 25th August 1991, 8:57:08 PM GMT when Linus Torwalds officially
announced birth of Linux on Minix newsgroup.

On 25th August 2016, 8:57:08 PM GMT ( 26th August 2016, 2:27:08 AM IST) ,
our Linux Kernel will become 25 years old.

We urge all of you to celebrate this event as a reinforcement of need for
free ideas for software.

Lets hope to see more software freedom efforts in next 25 years. Let's wish
that Indian contribution to software freedom see new heights in times to
come.

Happy GNU/Linuxing,

Mohit Singh,

Last week I was discussing with my last school teacher regarding awareness
and importance of open source among students of high school and senior
secondary
"Open source" means free software (roughly), but without the ethical
concept of freedom that the Free Software Movement is based on.
How about spreading awareness of free software and freedom, rather than
open source?

See http://gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.html
for more explanation of the difference between free software and open
source. See also http://thebaffler.com/past/the_meme_hustler for
Evgeny Morozov's article on the same point.

Hi

Very true. I totally agree, it is about spreading freedom of developing
software or providing contribution to make it better to be used by people
around the globe. :)

Many Thanks
Kind Regards
